Ma’alaea sits on Maui’s South-shore on the way to Lahaina and is known for one of Maui’s major harbors, whale watching, boating activities, and Maui’s only Ocean Aquarium. Ma’alaea has a small strip of real estate – with residential homes and 9 condo complexes. Ma’alaea also has a small shopping complex with the Pacific Whale Foundation, restaurants, and a variety of shops. It is known for being one of the windiest pieces of land on Maui.
